ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Technology Development Program Management Team facilitates AMD’s silicon and advanced packaging technology development programs from technology concept through maturity. We monitor that the technology roadmap supports the product roadmap and work across organizations to resolve cross-functional issues and logistics.  We continually improve our business processes and help manage partnerships with suppliers to deliver cutting edge silicon and packaging technology in time to support the product roadmap.  

 

JOB PURPOSE

The Technology Development Program Manager is responsible for the packaging and silicon technology development phase gate process, managing executive technology development communication forums, and driving the cross-functional engineering level technology development forums. The Technology Development Program Manager serves as a technical manager interface to internal cross functional teams (Foundry Technology Operations, Advanced Packaging, Product Development, Suppliers, etc.).  The candidate will drive consistent technology development business processes across the programs and continually improve those processes.  Leadership, project management, technology expertise, process improvement, and problem solving are key qualities to be able to influence internal cross-functional engineering teams, AMD leadership, and suppliers to make sure that the technology development plans are on track to support the product roadmap and that the teams are using the best business processes to efficiently achieve this goal.  The candidate will help to proactively identify and resolve cross-functional issues that arise during technology development and introduction of products onto those new technologies.

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate  and continually improve the packaging and silicon technology development phase gate process
  • Identify/resolve cross-functional technology development issues from technology concept through the introduction of products on the technology
  • Manage executive and engineering level forums for technology development
  • Organize supplier communication forums for technology development
  • Support technology development logistics and business processes
     
    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • A technology related engineering degree plus 5 or more years of related experience (silicon process technology, packaging technology, product development, and/or technical project management), or equivalent combination of training and experience.   An advanced degree may reduce the minimum experience requirement.
  • Strong technical program management skills.  
  • Requires demonstrated expertise in the development or productization of advanced technologies.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentations skills.
  • Strong ability to facilitate problem solving & resolve issues across organizations and an ability to learn on the job.
