Job Title:

Project Management Intern

Requisition ID:

R025043

Job Description:

Project Management Co-Op Student

The Company

Demonware is a member of the Activision family of studios. We work alongside engineers and creatives at our AAA partner studios and deliver the online and data services required by our franchises. We craft, develop, and host services for some of the world’s biggest video game franchises, including Call of Duty and Crash Bandicoot.

We are a technology-driven company with a commitment to openness. This means collaborating to solve problems, the freedom to talk to anyone, and the best idea wins. We take the work seriously; ourselves, not so much.

Demonware has offices in Dublin, Ireland; Vancouver, Canada; California, United States of America; and Shanghai, China.

Big ideas, small egos.

Demonware hosts millions of concurrently connected users.  Technologies we use, but are not limited to, Python, Linux, MySQL, C++, and Erlang. We solve tough problems on a day to day basis, and interns have a big impact on what we do. We’ve had interns commit code and have it running in production within the first three days of joining.

We also like to have fun while we’re working hard. We dress casually, we have flexible hours, and we have kickass coffee.

"I was given the responsibility of designing, implementing and deploying features that are part of a large system. There is also a lot of exposure to complex problems where you get to see how experienced engineers approach and solve them" - Matthew Taggart 2022

As a Project Management Intern in the Game Services department, you’ll get first-hand experience in how projects are structured, managed, and delivered at Demonware. You’ll work closely with experienced Project Managers, assisting with project co-ordination, tracking progress, and ensuring tasks stay on course. Through a mix of hands-on work and mentorship, you’ll develop key skills in stakeholder communication, risk management, and project ownership—giving you a solid grounding in what it takes to be a Project Manager in a technology-driven environment.

  • Duration: 11 months.

  • Location: Dublin, on-site. This role requires working from the Dublin office.

  • Working Hours: Core hours are 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe experienced PMs in planning sessions, daily stand-ups, and cross-team meetings to understand decision-making and collaboration.

  • Work closely with engineering teams to help facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, and team retrospectives.

  • Ensure project timelines align with development cycles and assist in tracking deliverables.

  • Maintain project documentation in tools such as Confluence, prepare status reports, and consolidate key metrics for reviews.

  • Identify potential roadblocks, raise them early, and propose basic mitigation strategies with guidance from senior PMs.

  • Create and update project plans, track tasks in tools like Jira, and communicate progress to stakeholders.

What we’re looking for:

  • Able to manage multiple tasks, stay on top of priorities, and keep initiatives moving without losing track of details.

  • Fluent English with excellent communication skills. Able to ask the right questions, and working with different teams to keep everyone aligned.

  • Comfortable taking on tasks, following through, and ensuring work is completed to a high standard.

  • Open to new challenges, quick to pick up unfamiliar tools or processes, and able to adjust to shifting priorities

  • Some background in planning, organising, or co-ordinating work—whether through formal training, hands-on experience, or transferable skills from other roles. A PM certification is a plus but not required.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Essential)

  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.

  • Exposure to Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools.

  • Previous experience in a technology environment or a strong interest in gaming/technology.

  • Project management qualification (Prince2/PMP)

Please list any additional experience you have with Linux at home, any programming-related hobbies and resulting projects, any interesting school assignments you worked on, any open source involvement and a link to your code repository and/or blog.

The skills listed above are intended to portray the range of roles we have available; you do not need to possess all of these skills to apply! We will look at your own individual skill set and determine which team you would be best suited to.

We welcome your application even if your work experience is limited and you haven’t yet built up a mile-long resume. We are not looking for experience but transferable skills and what you can bring to the team

Perks

  • City-center office location
  • Paid annual leave
  • Work directly on features for video games
  • Competitive pay
  • Free games
  • Intern Team Events

How to Apply

Please submit your resume and a member of the recruitment team will be in touch with you shortly.

We love hearing from anyone who is enthusiastic about changing the games industry. Not sure you meet all qualifications? Let us decide!
