THE ROLE:

As a Project Manager for Thermal Mechanical Design Engineering, you will be responsible for the thermal & mechanical design and build aspects for all AMD AI programs, from product definition through delivery. This position focuses on all aspects of the lifecycle AMD delivers for hardware platforms and related technologies, from pre-silicon hardware planning to post-silicon execution, leading to production release. You will work across teams, blending your strategic and tactical experience to produce high-quality solutions, within time and budget.  It is a hands-on and dynamic role which encompasses all areas of thermal & mechanical development for AMD's Instinct System Design Engineering Data Center business units.  The role requires proactive and frequent engagement with cross-functional teams to ensure that thermal mechanical engineering team are enabled for successful planning, design, development and validation of board-level AI solutions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Drive efficient Instinct Thermal & Mechanical program planning & execution through active leadership, clear communication, and effective organization skills.
  • Provide frequent & concise updates to Program and Leadership teams on plans, status, and risk mitigation.
  • Keep the bigger business picture in mind, while focusing on program details to effectively drive teams.
  • Proactively drive plans to mitigate delays, and follow through with the internal Instinct System Design teams
  • Collaborate with stakeholders for defining teams’ dependencies & deliverables.
  • Coordinate 3rd parties & contract manufacturers to align material supply and prototype deliveries for Instinct thermal & mechanical deliveries in line with committed schedules
  • Management and alignment of design deliverables into corporate phase gate review process
  • Proven capability of leading concurrent programs in a metric-driven environment and demonstrated ability to deliver
  • Excellent problem structuring and problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage a high degree of complexity 
  • Strong attention to detail with a high sense of urgency
  • Coordinate on-time delivery of all engineering project deliverables into customer development projects
  • The successful candidate must also plan for risks in the development path, identify prevention methods, and address them to save on engineering costs.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of PM experience working on product development for PC or compute industry
  • Knowledge of AI technology and related industries
  • Experience in interacting with and directing international teams in a technology environment
  • Proven experience in rapid product prototyping and high-mix, fast-turn product development from design to mass production
  • Demonstrated project and program management leadership success
  • Experience leading and managing multiple complex projects at a given time with successful results
  • Experience with Bill of Material (BOM) / Cost Analysis, CNC/Hard-tool Test process
  • Organization/planning skills and relevant experience driving development schedules and risk

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • PMP certification preferred
