THE ROLE:
The Radeon Power and Performance Group is looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive key strategic initiatives like AMD’s 30x25 datacenter power efficiency goal, and a very diverse set of projects in the areas of GPU PPA concept definition, Competitive Analysis, Power Management Architecture, Power and Performance Modeling and Silicon Correlation. This is a high impact role that requires extensive technical domain knowledge and an ability to engage with cross-functional engineering and business functions to achieve program goals in predictable schedules and with creative use of available resources.
THE PERSON:
The right candidate will have a can-do attitude, excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication and summarizing skills. They are detail oriented and have an ability to learn fast on the go, execute amidst ambiguity and competing priorities. They are able to motivate a matrixed engineering organization based on data-driven analyses. They have a keenness for improving engineering processes and methodologies. Prior SoC architecture/design/verification/validation leadership and/or program management experience is needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage projects in GPU Power Management Architecture, Power and Performance Model Development and Silicon Correlation
- Engage technically and logistically with various engineering teams including Product Management, GFX and SoC Architecture, IP Design and Verification, System Design, Firmware, Driver, Emulation, Silicon Validation, Power & Performance Lab partners
- Help create, track, drive and maintain project plans and schedules including key milestones, deliverables, and dependencies
- Report status and outlook for the tracked programs and initiatives
- Convene workgroups, drive agenda, and follow up on action items
- Leverage technical and program management experience to create/improve engineering processes and methodologies
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proven Project & Program Management or Engineering Management experience, preferably in Processor SoC Hardware/Firmware/System software development
- Understanding of computer architecture, processor power and performance fundamentals, and ASIC and/or software development cycles (concept to customer launch) will be highly desirable
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Proficiency in productivity tools including Confluence, Jira, JAMA, MS-Office suite, change control tools like Perforce/Git and scheduling tools like MS Project, SmartSheet
- Ability to write scripts in Python will be a plus
- PMP certification and/or Agile development or certification will be a bonus
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is desired
