We’re looking for an experienced Development Director who will embrace our philosophy and share their hard-earned expertise to help us create an incredible experience for our players. What you’ll do...
- Perform as the primary production member for the Design departments. Ensure smooth development processes by owning the Design’s schedule. Closely collaborate with Design Directors to maintain scope.
- Build and maintain feature roadmaps and milestone deliverables by collaborating closely with Design Directors and department producers. Ensure downstream dependencies are fully accounted for.
- Be the source of truth for design scope and ensure any changes impacting other departments are swiftly communicated.
- Proactively raise project risks to the production team and project leadership.
- Work closely with Design Directors and downstream art leadership to ensure all levels can be delivered in time and within scope.
- Facilitate productive meetings by driving the conversation towards actionable items. Communicate the outcome of these meetings to any members involved and convert any action items to tasks to be assigned out.
- Identify and help alleviate any discrepancies between department schedules and productivity towards milestones. Keep track of dependencies and raise red flags as needed.
- Record and track feature requests and follow up to determine feasibility within various departments.
- Facilitate communication and tracking with external partners as needed.
- Help identify and help resolve team issues.
- Constantly evaluate and iterate to improve production and development processes.
Ideally you will have...
- Experience as a Producer or Development Director seeing through a AAA game/s through the full development cycle, from concept to ship.
- 5+ years’ experience as an embedded member of a studio development team is ideal.
- Deep understanding of the level creation process from blockout phase to shippable content.
- Understanding of how in-game mechanics and systems affect game design and the player experience. Experience working with level and feature creation is ideal.
- Professional experience with scheduling and project tracking software (Excel, MS Project, JIRA.)
- Off the charts communications skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt based on team culture and pipeline.
- A very strong drive to be proactive. Always on the lookout for improvement opportunities.
- Sense of urgency and a desire to get things done.
- Ability to self-motivate and help motivate others.
- Sense of personal responsibility for knowing everything that's happening with the game, playtesting, etc.
- Detail oriented but also focused on the big picture. Sees the forest but knows everything about the trees.
- Familiarity with bug reporting and related software.
- Deeply organized. Grand juggler of many things.
- Strong people skills. Empathy for fixing the problems of others, respect for others’ time.
- Intense passion for video games.
