SENIOR MANAGER SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER  

 

THE ROLE:

  • The RTG SW Modelling Group at AMD is undergoing an exciting expansion in EMEA. We focus on SW models of AMDs graphics and compute IP development, covering the entire design cycle across architecture, algorithm design, block specification, supporting RTL design, test planning, verification, end-to-end validation, and FW implementation. Our graphics and compute IP go into the broad AMD SoC portfolio. A portfolio which is driving the computer graphics, ML and AI revolution.
  • We are looking for a leader to take on team and project management of the high performing European software modelling team.
  • As the team manager you will be responsible for the growing the team, long-term career development, reviews, mentorship, and associated organization for this team, as it scales.
  • As project manager supporting local and global team, you will ensure the roadmap, agreed features and timelines are clearly articulated to all team members. You will work with block owners and other managers to ensure all work is appropriately scheduled and resourced. You will track progress and important metrics, following up as appropriate to ensure tasks are correctly prioritized. You will take on a pivotal role in ensuring timely and successful deliveries by the team.
  • Whilst this role is a management role you would be expected to gain a working understanding of the subject area and have a hands-on technical approach.

 

THE PERSON:

  • You should be keen to make a real word difference in graphics and compute technology. Want to achieve the best image quality and customer experience, whilst minimizing bandwidth, power and chip area and maximizing performance and feature set. Excited by the challenges these goals create.
  • You should be curious and want to be involved in very difficult concepts. Likely to have an excellent degree in a computer science, engineering, maths, or science discipline or experience to lead you to understand such topics. Enjoy working in a team and sharing your skills and experience with your teammates. Have demonstrable experience in line management and project management. 
  • You should be organized and someone who communicates directly, compassionate and put your team first. 
  • We are part of a global team, working with and supporting colleagues across the world and every time-zone so requires someone who would relish working with people globally and from different cultural backgrounds.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Track record of successfully driving projects through the entire Software Development Lifecycle
  • Excellent at prioritization, organization, and the ability to multitask.
  • Unique ability to understand complex technical issues and to present adjusted level of detail to senior management.
  • You are an excellent communicator in English, both verbally and written.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Growing the team, long-term career development, reviews, mentorship, and associated organisation of reporting team.
  • Work closely with Graphics and Compute architects, SW teams, and IP design team, and establishes requirements for architecture modelling projects.
  • Develops plan of record for deliverables and detailed milestones for software modelling development projects. 
  • Employs agile methodology for SW development and drives sprints and daily scrums.
  • Identifies, tracks, and mitigates program risks.
  • Able to implement and track resource allocation across projects, identifies resource gaps, and facilitates resource balancing. 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of Software development background is highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of team and/or project management experience in the software domain
  • Good understanding of the Silicon development life cycle from requirements to market release would be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a geographically distributed team 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
