THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a Senior Power Modeling Engineer to come join an experienced design team of highly talented engineers who will perform SoC power modeling on upcoming AMD APUs, CPUs & contribute to defining product specifications.  You will also be involved in defining product bounding box.

A successful candidate will employ proven solid power and performance knowledge, strong multi-functional communication, and well-honed organizational skills with logical thinking. A candidate must be self-motivated and possess the technical proficiency and interpersonal confidence to represent performance ideas technically clearly.

 

A self-starter with the ability to accomplish complex performance optimization independently and collaborate with others to resolve problems found. You should feel comfortable working in a lab environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, validate, and maintain power models for different devices and systems.
  • Collaborate with design, architecture, and verification teams to understand power requirements and constraints.
  • Perform power analysis and optimization at different stages of the design process.
  • Analyze and interpret simulation results to identify power bottlenecks and suggest improvements.
  • Support the development of power estimation tools and methodologies.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide insights on power consumption and optimization.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in power modeling and SoC technologies.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in power modeling and analysis for devices.
  • Strong understanding of device physics and power consumption mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in power estimation tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE, Verilog, or System Verilog.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or TCL.
  • Knowledge of low-power design techniques and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with power-aware verification techniques.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS or above in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
