SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER 

THE ROLE: 

As a Senior Product Development engineer, you will lead the server system validation for all of AMD server programs. This individual serves as a critical technical point of contact to the design, platform validation and product engineering teams. THE PERSON: 

A successful candidate is one who can drive technical decisions independently, has accountability for accuracy, reliability and completeness of assignment results critical to the project’s success. This role allows the opportunity to influence technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Collaborate with design, validation, and architecture teams for content coverage, test pattern development, validation, and debugging   
• Develop test program infrastructure incorporating latest Best-Known methods  
• Solves sophisticated, novel, and non-recurring problems; initiates significant changes to existing processes/ methods and leads development and implementation
• Overall technical “hands-on” team leader for server system validation team, with broad experience in all areas of system validation. Strong understanding of system/CPU workloads like SpecCPU2017, Stress-ng, virtualization workloads, Citrix Hypervisor testing etc.
• Strong Linux skill sets and overall large scale system validation execution methodology driver.
• Lead the team from front, provide hands-on training, guidance and debug help to the entire team including ramping up engineers on test methodology, execution, result logging, JIRA ticket creation etc.
• Lead & Coordinate critical and time sensitive manual testing for the current and upcoming server cpus as as well as provide results, feedback to AMD sever leadership team and product engineering team for factory ramp.
• Manage day to day execution, as well as lead debug, triage and failure troubleshooting efforts for the team, be the primary contact for any issues observed as well as triage/failure repro activity with program lead system engineer and rest of the debug/functional validation teams.
• Roll-up and presenting validation progress, indicators to upper mgmt..
• Identify and plan product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield and resolve quality issues 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• 8+ years of experience in system validation and debug or similar background.
• Proven years of experience in CPU/SOC/platform validation on either server/desktop CPU/systems. In depth knowledge on CPU and system architecture. 
• Proven experience on hardware/software triage & debug in a system validation, debug environment.
• Exposure to JTAG, DFT and other debug methodologies.
• Strong experience in system OS - Windows, Linux and ESXi/VMWare. Other system components like BIOS, System & IP firmware, and other system boot flow components.
• Experience in virtualization testing is highly desired.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, shell script   
• Deep knowledge of computer architecture is preferred   

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer engineering or computer science or electrical engineering, or comparable disciplines
