THE ROLE: 

AMD is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join the Network Technology and Solutions Group (NTSG) team. In this role, you will be part of the Program Management team that has program management responsibility for NTSG Silicon and SW/Platform products spanning through all the stages of the product lifecycle – product definition, design, verification, manufacturing, test and bring up.

THE PERSON: 

The right candidate will have solid knowledge of technical program management, an outstanding track record of delivering sophisticated software/hardware programs. Must possess ability to coordinate and lead activities, influence process changes within peer teams, and have strong analytical skills. Out of box critical thinking and adeptness in simplifying for efficiency is a must. Data driven mindset is needed.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Define, plan and drive projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance. 
  • Scope technical feasibility of new Products by clarifying and analyzing requirements with SW/HW/Platform Architects, Technical Leads and Engineers 
  • Develop and maintain program schedule by considering various design/verification components, emulation requirements, HW/FW dependencies, Driver, SW Stack components from product planning to general access of the product.
  • Building, creating, and maintaining a well-developed, managed and executed program plan is critical. 
  • Establish formal program management artifacts including a plan of record, statements of work, project/program timelines, budget, scope, performance, and quality KPIs.   
  • Working effectively with stakeholders outside of the NTSG organization as well as external vendors to ensure deliverables are provided that meet or exceed NTSG requirements.
  • Analyze and track detailed project tasks and performance against the plan of record to identify any issues early that are impacting the project plan and identify options for recovering delays to maintain schedule. 
  • The successful candidate must also plan for risks in the development path, identify prevention methods, and address them to save on engineering costs. 
  • Being comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement. You must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD's Engineering, Product Management and Customer Engineering organizations.

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Proven Program Management experience in a dynamic and competitive industry, particularly within Software Development or Engineering based organizations.
  • Familiarity with Silicon development and verification flows a plus
  • Managing projects where the end solution is an integration of multiple different tools and flows which are either internally developed or coming from a 3rd party.
  • Good understanding of requirements management, documentation management, and defect management 
  • Ability to grasp concepts during discussions and turn minutes into action items. 
  • Able to communicate concepts and processes with stakeholders. 
  • Analytical, self-motivated, organized, detailed-oriented and results-oriented. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with multiple people and teams, ability to communicate progress to team members on a regular basis. 
  • Experience working in a high-pressure environment and competing priorities and tight turnaround times. 
  • Engineering background preferred. 10+ years industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with Smartsheets, JIRA, Confluence and Excel is an asset. 
  • Experience with Agile methodology. 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science
