Riot Engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the chance to work in many broader domains. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll also dive into projects that focus on team cohesiveness and cross-team objectives. You’ll lead without authority and provide other engineers with a clear illustration of extraordinary engineering.

The Accounts team is responsible for building the platform that powers authentication and authorization for millions of Riot players worldwide. We create the technology that handles the highest volume of traffic, ensuring smooth and secure entry points for players' first interactions with our games. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Player Platform’s Accounts team, you will play a critical role in building and managing the "front door" to our games. You’ll develop scalable solutions that process authentication and authorization traffic, safeguarding player data while ensuring a seamless, secure, and enjoyable experience from their very first interaction with our platform. You will report to the Engineering Manager of the Accounts team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support our OpenID Connect/OAuth platform used by millions of players
  • Support our suite of mission-critical Java, Kotlin, and Node services at a globally distributed scale
  • Partner with product owners and technical leads to build and operate features end-to-end
  • Provide high-quality software by writing unit, functional, and integration tests
  • Invest in team’s complete ownership of our products by participating in on-call rotation

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a software engineering role (i.e. software, systems, architecture)
  • Expertise in Java, Kotlin, and some familiarity with Node.js / Typescript.
  • Experience with the following: microservices architecture, client/service application architecture, API architecture and development

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with OpenID Connect and/or OAuth
  • Familiarity with “Infrastructure as Code” and tooling like Terraform, Docker and Jenkins
  • Familiarity with Cloud Platform providers like AWS or GCP
  • Familiarity with web security concepts (OWASP security models, cookies, CORS)
  • Familiarity with client / full-stack development
  • Expertise operating distributed services at high scale

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and choices that focus on your fellow Rioters, who are the customers of your work. Being a dedicated fan of games is not necessary for this position.

Our Perks:

Riot focuses on work/life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. We offer medical, dental, and life insurance, parental leave for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children, and a 401k with company match. Check out our benefits pages for more information.
