As a Software Engineer on the Cosmetic Tools Team for Teamfight Tactics, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the tools and workflows that support the game’s development. You will collaborate with developers, artists, and designers to create scalable, efficient, and user-friendly tools that streamline content creation and improve productivity. Your contributions will directly impact the quality and speed at which Teamfight Tactics evolves, enabling our team to deliver memorable experiences to players.
Hextech is Riot’s proprietary game engine for League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics, built on C++. Our tools are also developed in C++ and leverage the Qt ecosystem heavily.
In this role, you will report to the team’s Engineering Manager and collaborate closely with other disciplines to improve the workflows, efficiency, and quality of life of your partners.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain tools to optimize workflows for designers, artists, and engineers.
- Partner with stakeholders across disciplines to gather requirements and deliver tailored tools that meet their needs.
- Improve the performance, usability, and scalability of existing tools and pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with the art and design teams to ensure smooth integration of assets and content into the game engine.
- Write and maintain detailed documentation to ensure tools and systems remain maintainable and accessible for future development.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of professional experience working in C++ on game engines or content creation tools (e.g., Gaming, Simulation, AR/VR, CAD).
- Strong expertise in data pipelines, automation, and workflow optimization.
- Proven experience collaborating with users to gather requirements, provide feedback, and analyze workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proven ability to debug complex systems effectively.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) and editor scripting.
- Demonstrated ability to build scalable, maintainable tools and pipelines for content production (e.g., VFX, animation, artwork).
- Strong understanding of performance optimization techniques, particularly in C/C++.
- Experience with Qt or similar C++ UI libraries.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a history of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
