Staff Software Engineer (Backend)

Your role within Activision Blizzard Media

  • Partner with Architects, Product Managers and other engineers to build one of the world’s largest mobile game advertising platforms 

  • Evaluate and choose the right technology stack and build the Ads & Monetization platform to handle billions of requests per day and tens of thousands of requests per second

  • Own the overall goals of uptime and scalability of the platform 

  • Genuine interest in working with and mentoring junior engineers  

 

Qualifications  

  • 7+ years of experience leading the development of highly performing, highly available and highly reliable production services 

  • Expert knowledge in Java, JMeter and performance engineering

  • Experience with streaming technologies e.g. Kafka, Kinesis and Flink

  • Experience with NoSQL systems e.g. DynamoDB, Cassandra, HBase 

  • Experience working in a cloud-based environment with Google Cloud Platform or AWS

  • Experience in designing overall architecture of frontend and backend solutions so that they work cohesively together

  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge and experience in CI/CD, test automation, Jenkins, Gradle and related technologies 

  • Experience with open source technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Google BigQuery 

  • Focused on usability, maintainability and quality, building for the long term

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $92,920.00 - $171,814.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
