THE ROLE:

The Storage and Backup Administrator will be responsible for providing technical support to Engineering and Corporate organizations at AMD. This position will be required to support AMD’s global storage and backup infrastructure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Furthermore, this person will be collaborating globally on efforts for various IT activities related to the AMD Engineering system environment, in accordance with AMD World Wide IT strategies and objectives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install, Configure, Maintain, Tune and Troubleshoot the core storage services including: NetApp (OnPrem, CVO and ANF), Pure (SAN), Nasuni, Nimble, Commvault, Brocade SAN, Zerto
Automate repetitive processes with scripting languages to drive automation and consistency.
Own and drive excellence in Incident / Problem / Change Management of Storage & Backup Infrastructure
Contribute to evolving standard operating procedures with a focus on problem avoidance.
Provide technical or business analytical leadership for specific storage and backup needs or objectives in order to meet business requirements.
Install and Configure Software, upgrade and do patch maintenance. Ensure software license compliance. Provide hardware support (if appropriate) and troubleshooting to isolate problems. Liaise with Vendors to resolve problems.
Provide technical services for customers in complex storage and backup environments. Demonstrate ability to assess technical impact to the project/new technology along with technical risks.
Resolve problems with little or no guidance. Independently research and promote specialized technical solutions.
Analyze complex hardware and software issues associated with backup-related technologies, including CommVault, Data Domain, and Enterprise Vault.
Monitor Commvault and SnapMirror/SnapVault transfers to ensure backup SLAs are met and data replication is healthy. Focus on continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
Maintain technical awareness of developments within the backup and storage technology industry and evaluate the applicability of those developments to the needs of AMD.
Capture and documents end-users requirements
Collaborates with vendors and/or systems engineers to actively troubleshoot to resolve operational issues

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Strong hands-on experience of Backup and Storage Engineering experience (Netapp, Pure, Commvault, Zerto, NFS/SAN, brocade) in an enterprise environment..

Excellent planning, interpersonal, problem solving, leadership skills are required.

Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation are necessary. Active listening skills are required.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s Degree or above, in Science, Engineering or Liberal Arts
