Ubisoft – Chengdu is looking for a Senior Writer to work on the narrative quality for our highly anticipated games. The Writer works closely with the quest team to craft quality game content that helps to immerse the player in the game world. The successful candidate is an experienced writer with strong game development experience who is organized and can skillfully integrate gameplay and storytelling into a cohesive whole. The candidate should also be comfortable creating and reviewing iterative content backed by a strong understanding of a franchise’s strengths.
What you will do
Work with quest designers to blueprint and plan out a high-level vision for content
Understand how to craft compelling storylines and characters within technical and budgetary constraints
Write and integrate character dialogue and implement dialogue using in-house narrative tools
Create titles and descriptions for items and powers in the game that are evocative of their function in game
Review and update existing scripts as necessary, and understanding the effect those updates have on the overall game narrative
Ensure that all narrative reference documents are up to date and with clear expectations to various disciplines across the studios
- Diploma of University or Master Studies in scriptwriting, literature, filmmaking, or videogames
At least one shipped title with credits in a narrative role
Strong, expressive, and naturalistic command of English writing
Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability
Avid gamer is a big plus
Interest in history and mythology is a plus
Professionally published creative writing is a plus
Professional writing samples will be required for consideration
