THE ROLE:
At AMD, our focus is around high-performance computing and ensuring that we get significant generation-to-generation improvements in the CPU core and broader system. On this team, we build on our depth in microarchitecture and uarch simulation to analyze and optimize high-performance System-on-a-Chip (SoC) designs for key areas such as cloud computing and machine intelligence acceleration.

THE PERSON:
An outstanding technical contributor and a passionate and dedicated Server Systems Performance Architect who can help us develop next-generation server simulators and use them to analyze complex workloads. An up-and-coming computer engineer who can quickly determine, using data, how next generation server platforms and high-performance CPUs should be engineered to accelerate adoption of our EPYC processors across cloud, enterprise, and HPC customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Impact microarchitecture exploration, performance modeling, and analysis for SoC designs that include next-generation CPU cores, memory technologies, scalable interconnects, and quality-of-service.
- Advance performance simulation methodologies for next-generation server CPU exploration and projection.
- Communicate, propose, and implement solutions to processor and system performance issues using an intimate understanding of design architecture.
- Collaborate in micro-benchmarking, workload characterization, competitive analysis, bottleneck identification, and optimization.
- Develop tools and methodologies for performance analysis of server workloads.
- Work well with multiple teams across multiple sites.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with multi-core systems and multi-thread interactions
- Experience with CPU, GPU, or computer system microarchitecture
- Experience with the development and usage of computer system performance models
- Experience with computer workload analysis
- Strong programming skills, including experience with C++ and Python (or similar)
- Minimum of BS + 4 years or MS + 2 years or PhD plus proficiency in principles and methods of microarchitecture, software, and hardware relevant to performance engineering
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
- Masters or PhD with emphasis on Computer Architecture performance studies preferred
