AMD together we advance_

THE ROLE:

At AMD, we focus on high-performance computing and ensure significant generation-to-generation performance improvements. On this team, we build on our depth in microarchitecture knowledge and simulation to analyze and optimize high-performance System-on-a-Chip (SoC) designs for critical areas such as cloud computing and machine intelligence acceleration.

Candidates seeking the most sophisticated and exciting challenges in the computing industry are encouraged to apply. We are passionate about performance innovation. Think you can help us develop simulators to explore CPU microarchitecture advancements and project performance of complex server workloads? Check out our opportunity. We have a competitive benefits package and an award-winning culture. Join us!

THE PERSON:

An outstanding technical contributor and a passionate and dedicated Server Systems Performance Architect who can help us develop next-generation server simulators and use them to analyze complex workloads. A staff-level or aspiring member of technical staff who can quickly determine, using data, how the next-generation server platforms and high-performance CPUs and GPUs should be engineered to accelerate the adoption of our EPYC processors across cloud, enterprise, and HPC customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Impact microarchitecture exploration, performance modeling, and analysis for SoC designs that include next-generation CPU cores, GPUs, memory technologies, scalable interconnects, and quality-of-service.
  • Advance performance simulation methodologies for next-generation server CPU  exploration and projection.
  • Communicate, propose, and implement solutions to processor and system performance issues using an in-depth design architecture and micro-architecture understanding.
  • Collaborate in micro-benchmarking, workload characterization, competitive analysis, bottleneck identification, and optimization.
  • Develop tools and methodologies for performance analysis of server and deep learning workloads.
  • Work well with multiple teams across multiple sites.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with multi-core systems and multi-thread interactions
  • Experience with CPU or computer system microarchitecture (ideally familiarity with both)
  • Previous work experience in IO subsystem Uarch, IO-interconnects and IO subsystem performance modeling
  • Experience with the development and usage of computer system performance models
  • Experience with computer workload analysis
  • Strong Background in Deep Learning Workloads
  • Strong programming skills, including experience with C++ and Python (or similar)
  • Proficiency in principles and methods of microarchitecture, software, and hardware relevant to performance engineering

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or emphasis on Computer Architecture preferred.
