THE ROLE:

This position is a leadership position within the post silicon EPYC functional validation organization, as a key gatekeeper of quality for our server products.  The team works as an integral part of our design, product engineering, platform SW, and HW teams to ensure we launch products with highest quality standards on time as committed to our customers. The team develops and executes detailed post-silicon validation test plans to ensure functional correctness of our design in the ecosystem.  The validation team must engage from the beginning (to ensure all elements of post-silicon validation readiness and smooth customer solution integration) and stay engaged through post-launch (as our customers continue to expand their offerings based on our products).

 

 

THE PERSON:

  • The leader must collaborate well with industry-wide server ecosystem developers, datacenter operators, and business leads to deliver high quality validation workloads both internally and to our top customers.
  • He/she is responsible for driving the strategy and execution of collecting (and sometimes developing) and prioritizing the best applications for the validation execution teams to utilize.
  • He/she will often be called upon to consult on how to replicate complex customer environments as simply as possible to support issue triage and to confirm root cause and any proposed solutions.
  • Sound and rapid decision-making skills, ability to handle ambiguity, and consistent visible leadership during customer engagements is a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executive level communications on status, problem resolutions, and decisions required is of utmost importance given the fast-paced environment.
  • Individual will partner closely with other validation leaders (as well as all other product development and business peers) and must be able to lead engineers as One AMD.
  • A knowledge of server CPU SoC microarchitecture and system architecture w/ understanding of post- and pre-silicon flows is a must. The individual will have responsibilities in both.
  • Knowledge of stress software development (C/C++/Python) will be critical to develop strategies and tools for ensuring coverage of complex features and leading debug of issues/failures.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with PC architecture, microprocessor cores, and software development
  • Understanding of modern x86 microprocessor architecture and Server platform architecture is highly desired
  • Experience developing validation methodologies and infrastructure
  • Test plan and workload development experience
  • Participated in silicon bring up and debug, support to internal engineering teams
  • Debug skills at both SoC and system level
  • Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...)
  • Working knowledge of Server OSes (Linux, Windows)
  • Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance
  • Forward thinker that drives improvement to development process, code architecture and fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of system protocols (ex: PCIe, CXL) is a plus
  • Performance analysis knowledge is a bonus
  • Self-organizing and the ability multitask based on priorities

 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BSEE; MSEE preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in SoC validation and debug.
