Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing muti-disciplinary knowledge of electronic, computer, and systems engineering. Develop reference designs, create protocol specific use models, and deliver application notes for Xilinx transceivers. Develop reference design and interface logic for various transceiver applications or protocols. Work with internal IP (Internet Protocol) teams and customers to ensure proper usage of Xilinx transceivers for various applications. Develop SerDes collateral, such as user guides, data sheets and application notes. Perform SerDes electrical compliance and debugging, including PCIe (peripheral component interconnect express), USB (Universal Serial Bus), and SATA (SATA stands for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment, or Serial ATA, and it is the newer standard with drives that are faster than previous PATA (IDE) drives). Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various Xilinx, Inc. products.

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: One (1) year of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role or Research/Teaching Assistant.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires education or experience with the following technologies and/or skills:

• Software verification;
• Product development cycles;
• Unix/Linux environments;
• Python, C, C++, PERL, TCL, or Shell; and
• Git.

Employer will accept skills gained in furtherance of university-level degree via coursework, projects, internship, research, etc. Skills may be gained concurrently.
