GPU Power Optimization & Technologies Architect
THE ROLE
As we push the limits of GPU technology from cell phones to the world’s fastest super computers, driving power optimization and technologies at all levels is essential. You would create and drive new power optimization technologies throughout our GPU products.
As the Power Optimization & Technologies Architect you will be expected to work with other technical experts internally and externally, to help guide complex products from concept to customer ship. The role requires a special combination of technical breadth, problem solving, and soft skills.

The Power Optimization & Technologies Architect is a cross-functional technical leader.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with our team of experts to create, develop, deploy power optimization and technologies architecture across all product lines.
- Work closely with the System Architects to set power attainment objectives.
- Develop methodologies to optimize HW and SW power management to maximize performance and user-experience on AC and on DC power.
- Architect, specify and drive solutions across all product lines.
- Engage with cross-functional leadership to integrate deliverables with project work streams.
- Feedback improvement areas to the various teams in IP, SoC, software, firmware and silicon enablement team
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Brings depth and expertise in product performance-per-watt attainment tradeoffs.
- Experience in tackling multi-variable problems via system level modeling, testing and characterization, trend analysis/projection, and model verification.
- Speaks SW not just HW - understand system-level power management trade-offs.
- Understands system-level thermal, power, frequency, and/or voltage limited workload behavior, and the impact of hardware design trade-offs on the limiters.
- Understands physical design and RTL-level trade-offs to attained best performance-per-watt for product IP mix and variations.
- Understands GPU power/performance, SW power management, and system-level trade-offs.
LEADERSHIP SKILLS
- Effective with communication while communicating status to management
- Accomplished listener who can analyze, abstract, communicate, and converge on the best ideas.
- Develop strong partnerships over time with program stakeholders across the organization and development partners outside the organization.
- Excellent verbal communication and written, presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, planning, and technical management skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Product level power optimization lead/designer/architect.
- Experience in the PC architecture space.
- Direct technical experience on GPU/CPUs system performance analysis and micro-architectural power optimization.
- Proven ability to deliver large cross-functional architectures.
EDUCATION
Master’s Degree (MS) or PHD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or relevant discipline plus a minimum of 8 years of industry experience including at least 5 years focused on power optimization.
