SMTS Software System Design Engineer
AMD, Inc., is hiring SMTS Software System Design Engineer to research, design, develop; and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis; plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products; set operational specifications and formulate and/or analyze software requirements; serve as technical leader across project or departmental, working on issues that impact design or selling success or address future concepts, products or technologies; Develop and code cutting edge solutions to deliver the best optimization profilers for multi-vendor platforms on AMD processors EPYC 7000 series. ; provide responsive and effective solutions that bring new AMD processors to market with enterprise virtualization solutions; perform code reviews, create unit tests, author detailed documentation related to your work, and work with on-site and off-shore teams to deliver the software solutions on
schedule; participate in all phases of the software development including system requirement analysis and coordinate feature design and development with other departments; drive projects or processes of significant technical importance; exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments; utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology; apply
knowledge of or experience with advanced programming skills in C for operating system kernel & systems development, GNU toolchain; building and submitting patches on a mailing list and collaborative open source development; low level debug tools; open source software development; running, analyzing, and tuning system performance benchmarks; and, apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Degree required:
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication Systems Management, or related field.
Amount and type of experience required: 3 years of experience in the job offered or closely related software dev/engineering role.
Alternate combination of education and experience : Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication Systems Management, or related field and 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related software dev/engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
Must have 2 years of experience in the following:
- Java, Javascript, SQL, or Python;
- Database architecture, database modeling, or data warehousing;
- Advanced algorithms or mathematical models; and
- ETL, data mining, or big data automation.
