Job Role and Responsibility:  Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system, or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

 

Travel required: NO    

Qualifications: Degree required:  Master’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or related field.

 Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: 36 months in job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience:  Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or related field and 60 months of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: With either combination of education and experience, position requires three (3) years of experience in the following skills:

  • Hardware Verification or Software Verification;
  • SOC or System Architecture;
  • Unix or Linux environments;
  • C or C++;
  • CPU architecture;
  • Linux or Windows internals;
  • OS kernel & systems development; and
  • Low level device drivers or embedded driver development.
