THE ROLE: 

AMD’s Xilinx Runtime library (XRT) provides software interface to AMD AI enabled acceleration devices and AMD-Xilinx Versal based products: PCIe based Alveo accelerator cards, MPSoC based embedded platforms and AIE-enabled Versal ACAP devices. As part of XRT team, you will be responsible for architecting and developing Xilinx RunTime (https://github.com/Xilinx/XRT) user space and kernel code for accelerating computational workloads for hardware accelerators. The XRT software stack spans from high-level modern C++ APIs, Python APIs, and OpenCL through a modularized implementation layer that interfaces with kernel driver code and firmware on the accelerator hardware. The team is looking to welcome a talented, self-driven, motivated, hands-on software engineer who is an expert in large scale C++ development and code architecture. Our team thrives in a fast-paced agile environment, and you must share our enthusiasm for developing high performance, easy-to-use, scalable, and extensible tools using modern software development technologies and practices.

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate should be passionate about architecting large scale software systems and improving quality of existing code. If you have a record of delivering commercial software and have insight into DirectML and/or Vulkan, we are looking for you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Architect, design, and implement high-performance runtime features for AIE-enabled devices like RyzenAI that accelerate ML workloads.
• Work with technical leads and others to converge on the design of runtime software components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to implement and debug software stack on AIE-enabled device as required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• Strong software development experience in Modern C/C++, and experience using multiple languages and programming paradigms.
• Deep experience with MLIR, Vulkan and DirectML.
• Experience with compute languages like HIP, CUDA is a plus.
• Experience with performance testing, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex software stack.
• Experience with modern modular CMake, Git, GitHub, GitHub actions for CI and testing.
• Solid experience of software development on both Linux and Windows.
• A mindset for developing high quality software stacks with well-defined pluggable components using modern build systems and unit testing frameworks.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• BS in CS, ECE, EE or related fields and several years relevant experience
• MS in CS, ECE, EE or related fields and several years relevant experience
