THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for a specialized software engineer who is passionate about improving the performance of key applications and benchmarks. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD. The successful candidate for this role will be an integral part of our performance tuning and automation team through code development, debug, emulation, hardware bring up, and performance evaluations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Software performance tuning on variety of system types (PC, workstations, data-center class servers, HPC nodes)
- Planning, designing, developing, debugging, and optimizing tuning tools to collect & utilize power/performance data from hardware and software for key GPU compute kernels
- Develop tests to validate tool features on both pre-silicon environment and post-silicon systems
- Participate in GPU silicon bring up and carry out performance tuning and analysis
- Identify and help resolve power/performance issues working closely with libraries development teams and other internal engineering and hardware teams
- Help scale tuning automation to cover wide variety of ML and HPC workloads
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in tools development or device driver or firmware SW development
- Experience in system software development on Linux
- Ability to closely interact with designers/architects and software optimization teams and other engineering groups to solve HW/SW issues
- Proficient in C & C++ programming; and in scripting with Python
- Great communication and people skills
- Experience working with large-scale software development projects and understanding of PC architecture
- Experience in system-level verification and debugging
- Experience with source control systems (git, svn)
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
