As a Staff Software Engineer (UI) on the TeamFight Tactics Team, you will work on a multi-disciplinary team with artists, designers and product managers to create and support the many facets of play. Teamfight Tactics is a multi-platform game; supporting PC, Android and iOS; so cross-platform experience would be beneficial. You will report to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, debug, and refine HUD and FrontEnd UI for a brand new Riot title
- Partner with UX designers and UI artists to create satisfying user experiences
- Contribute to technical design and implementation of meta game systems where UI is a core component
- Develop technical design, architecture requirements, and implementation approach for relevant systems
- Collaborate with product and discipline leads to identify focus areas, handoff points, and provide the best solution for the development phase
- Work closely with backend and build teams to create space efficient UI packages
- Ensure exceptional code quality by adhering to engineering excellence which includes: code maintainability, quality, monitoring, code reviews, and documentation
- Provide mentorship to engineers
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years game industry or relevant engineering experience
- 2+ years mobile game development experience
- Experience using Unreal Engine, especially UMG, Slate, and Common UI
- Thorough understanding of common UI software design patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVP)
- Strong knowledge of data driven design principles
- Strong OO C/C++/C# programming experience
- Experience collaborating with teammates across multiple disciplines
- Product sense, pragmatism, and player empathy in making tech decisions
- Experience implementing software engineering best practices within your team, including design reviews, coding standards, code reviews, tools improvements, source control management, build processes, and testing
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience using scene rendering analysis tools such as RenderDoc
- Familiarity with Teamfight Tactics
