THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for an experienced Sr Director, Field Applications Engineering for an exciting role within the Cloud Sales organization, responsible for managing the end-to-end success of AMD’s North America Cloud sell-in. A key part of this role involves working closely with AMD sales leadership to ensure strong customer engagements and delivering to the AMD server roadmap. This role will report directly to the Corporate Vice President of Engineering within the Cloud Sales organization and will be based in North America.
Our Cloud Solutions Engineering team is chartered with driving revenue attainment via Cloud sell-in, post sales solutions ramp, and product support for our cloud datacenter server customers. This team has accountability as first level support to our AMD partners, enabling internal property and cloud instance launch, ramp and portfolio expansion. With their unified technical view of the cloud solutions portfolio, this team represents the “voice of our customer” back into the AMD engineering teams.
This team delivers proven solutions and collateral, to our customers, via first level support, including; performance optimization, issue replication and addressing gating technology issues. The team works closely with Sales and Engineering to prioritize and close customer requests and drive revenue attainment.
THE PERSON
A passion for our customer winning with AMD products, balanced with empathy and ability to build relationships with the customer and cross-functionally within AMD is vital for success in this role. The ideal candidate also possesses relevant technical skills and technology experience, strong executive communication skills, and process discipline.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a Cloud Solution team of Field Applications Engineers
- Identify and drive cloud customer solutions that enable the AMD product roadmap and deliver TCO value to our end customers
- Serve as first level support to drive cloud instance configuration optimization – identify and optimize performance early at cloud service providers
- Serve as first level support to drive replication, root cause, and resolution for customer sightings in partnership with engineering
- Be the voice of the customer for future feature requests and critical customer impactful events including performance, features or quality
- Work closely with engineering to prioritize customer requests
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Previous Customer facing role with deep technical experience in Field Applications Engineering
- Verbal and written communications when addressing technical content – this job requires succinct executive communication both internally and externally
- Experience and executive presence to deliver plans and results to senior executives internally and technology experts externally at the Customer
- Hand-on experience with AMD CPU and Datacenter GPU technology, including end solution firmware, hardware and software integration
