THE ROLE:
This role will be responsible for managing AMD’s commercial relationships with our wafer foundry partners. This includes price negotiation, contracts, capacity commitments. delivery execution and supplier performance management, as well as defining and executing on the long term strategy for foundry engagements. Wafer spend is the single largest cost to AMD’s COGS and the successful candidate will be able to understand the cost drivers and formulate solutions to maximize cost savings. Candidate will be expected to establish and maintain relationships with key executives at foundry partners. Requires strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to summarize complex issues for executives internal to AMD and with foundry partners. Role will require partnering with functional, technical, legal, finance, and supply chain to execute commercial agreements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for all aspects of cost, quality and delivery required to achieve revenue and margin targets for AMD
- Develop negotiation strategies to reduce/eliminate supply shortages and provide cost management in line with AMD market share growth targets
- Understand AMD’s product roadmaps and work with our manufacturing partners to ensure costs are in line to support
- Provide regular report outs to CEO and executive staff on progress to meet cost targets
- Create KPIs and strategic goals/milestones for the Foundry sourcing team
- Develop a supplier scorecard and hold regular reviews with each strategic partner
- Oversee inventory control to support customer needs, achieve balance sheet targets, and mitigate inventory risk
- Identify, develop and retain world-class talent
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Basic understanding of wafer processing, drivers of wafer cost, and yield modeling
- Electronics Industry experience
- Demonstrated success with planning, conducting, and closing complex negotiations
- Willingness to travel Internationally
- Multi-source supplier network & outsourced manufacturing experience
- Demonstrated successful experience at a senior manager level with broad supply chain responsibilities
- Progressive responsibility in Supply Planning, Materials, Product Development, Procurement, and Logistics
- Experience in ERP initiatives, Advanced Planning Systems, and familiarity with a broad variety of supply chain concepts, practices, and procedures and specific expertise in global supply chain
- Ability to engage in collaborative problem-solving efforts with C-level management and external contacts regarding supply chain issues as well as accounting and financial issues
- Strong leadership and communications skills
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS/BA: Specialty in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering with MBA preferred
