Sr. Director, Software Development

THE PERSON:

You are a strong and experienced technical leader who has worked in the semiconductor industry. You are a mature, seasoned leader that can drive change and innovation in AI software capabilities with deep understanding in AI models and AI accelerator hardware architectures. You enjoy developing talent and growing a worldwide R&D team. In addition, you are a change agent with a proven record of pushing the boundary of delivering end to end software solutions to customers. You possess strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills. You excel in across-functional collaboration and solving complex challenges for customers.

THE ROLE:

You will be part of the AMD GPU Technology and Engineering Software Team developing our latest AI software technologies. You will collaborate with silicon engineering, platform engineering, and customer engineering, and validation teams, as well as AMD’s business teams to bring Radeon and Ryzen software to customers. It is a large cross-functional role requiring technical depth/breadth and strong leadership and collaboration skills. You will innovate and be part of driving change for the AI technology and products which are fastest growing within the company and in the computing industry at large. This will be a high impact role which will require you to interact with AMD’s senior leadership.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Extensive experience delivering end to end AI software from conception to development to validation and customer enablement
• Expertise in latest AI models such as CNN, Transformer, Stable Diffusion, large Language Models
• Experience in AI software frameworks, such as PyTorch, ONNX Runtime, TVM
• Strong knowledge in AI accelerator architectures in GPU/NPU/CPU
• Demonstrated leadership strength in developing and worldwide R&D teams
• Knowledge of Github and CI/CD software development methodologies
• Knowledge of GPU and graphics technologies
• Demonstrated ability in “showing initiative” and drive to get things done
• Excellent communication skills including presenting to senior executives

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and deliver innovative AI software solutions to key customers and to the general public
• Recruit top talent to support the team's growth plans and develop the existing engineering team
• Build and cultivate strong relationships with key engineering organizations including firmware, software, silicon design and validation organization
• Partner with validation teams to deliver quality software through methodology improvement initiatives
• Support the customer engineering team’s demand in supporting customers AI use cases
• Support optimization and debugging efforts from customers as required

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, computer science or relevant fields
