FIRMWARE ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
AMD’s Server Core Firmware team is looking for a firmware engineer to architect, develop, and debug firmware solutions for the AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization feature. The engineer will develop new firmware and test suites for new processors, collaborate with customers and partners on new initiatives, resolve technical challenges, and align efforts across engineering teams and business units within AMD. Secure Encrypted Virtualization is a cornerstone security feature in the AMD EPYC processor providing unparalleled security to AMD’s end customers throughout the world.
THE PERSON:
We are looking for a confident and experienced developer that has a passion for leading and developing firmware or device drivers in large scale products. A deep appreciation for secure coding concepts and a solid understanding of encryption technology are essential. You must be a self-starter that collaborates well in a small team of highly motivated engineers. You must be willing to participate in debug that extends far beyond your official development responsibilities as issues often require deep, companywide cross-collaboration.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years device driver, BIOS/UEFI, or firmware development experience
- Proven foundation in C programming.
- Mastery of computer architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with RTOS and other embedded OS environments.
- Experience with git source control systems.
- Industry experience developing embedded firmware or device drivers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working on x86 server platforms.
- Well versed in software engineering practices.
- Experience with GoogleTest framework.
- Experience with technologies such as DDR.
- Experience with security related technologies such as TPM, AES, DES, RSA, AMD Secure Memory Encryption, AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization
- Experience with JTAG debuggers and other debug tools.
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, responding to changing business and technical conditions with minimal direction.
- Excellent communications skills: verbal, written and interpersonal.
