Job Description:

Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductors and related devices.  Contribute to the development of product strategy and provides technical leadership in the development of new products, processes, or technologies in support of this strategy.  Participate with senior management to contribute to business planning and objectives setting for a business unit or functional area.  Responsible for projects or processes of significant strategic or commercial importance and for project/program results.  Establishes and maintains AMD’s technological leadership position in an area.  Serve as a technical leader across project and departmental boundaries.  Provide consultative direction with senior management.  Lead the pre-silicon functional verification team, the team with a mandate to perform Hardware/Firmware co-verification using UVM System Verilog and C-DPI structured testbench.  Build test plans and drive verification and debug of embedded boot firmware functionality to complete functional test and code coverage goal.  Coach and mentor experienced staff.  Maintain a team focus on project and product goals that align with functional strategy. Build and leverage trusting relationships with stakeholders. Develop and modify the System Verilog and C driven testbench and bus functional models as required to manage the verification process. Develop and execute subsystem tests using FW/HW co-verification methodology; and improve verification metrics. Debugging test failures to determine if it is a design or verification test defect, correcting test issues and working with the design team to correct defects. Collaborate with team technical leads and architects on the process, methodology, and technical enhancements to design verification, to drive continuous improvement and positive change.

Degree required: 

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in electronics engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or computer information systems.

Amount and type of experience required:

Five (5) years in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate Education and experience accepted:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in electronics engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or computer information systems and nine (7) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Skills required:

For either combination of education and experience, position requires five (5) years of experience with the following technologies and/or skills:  UVM, System Verilog, VHDL, or Verilog; Python, C, C++, PERL, TCL, or Shell; coordination of technical projects associated with product development lifecycles, including determining technical priorities; C/C++; verification of GPU, CPU, SOC, or other complex IPS; RTL verification, functional or microprocessors, hardware verification, graphics IP architecture verification, memory verification IP, or design flows/methodologies for chip verification; EDA tools; and CAD technology.
