SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER 

 

THE ROLE: 

Join AMD’s team of highly skilled professionals in managing the quality returns verification of key customers in their production & service centers of our Data Center, Client and Gaming products. Our presence gives this Quality Returns Verification team exposure to multiple teams in AMD like Quality (PLQ/CQE/FA), Sales OPS, Product Development, etc. This team partners with AMD Quality (PLQ/CQE) Team, Customer Engineering Team and Product Development Engineering Team to enable On-Site Verification for AMD products in customer sites to timely verify the customer line rejects/field returns and collect the verified quality data, support quality improvement and accelerate the TAT of customer returns/credit with credit avoidance.  As a member of our Quality Returns Verification team, you will be a critical part of driving improvement and innovation in OSV program and process.

 

THE PERSON: 

A successful candidate is one who can drive technical decisions independently, has accountability for accuracy, reliability and completeness of assignment results critical to the project’s success. This role allows the opportunity to influence technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Play a critical role for OSV deployment and OSV operational excellence, to ensure the on-time deployment with right OSV result and max ROI.
  • Interact with AMD's CE, PLQ/CQE, and manufacturing contacts to understand the status/schedule of AMD products and customer’s projects, following the schedule to plan and prepare the hardware, tools for OSV deployment.
  • Work closely with PLQ/CQE to fully understand the quality perspective for the planning of OSV deployment and execution with the expected priority
  • Program manage cross functional teams to ensure the OSV to be deployed in customer successfully and running smoothly. Cross functional teams may consist of PLQ/CQE, QRV NA team, Failure Analysis, Customer Engineering, Sales Ops.
  • Escalate potential OSV issues which impact to the data collection and RMA return to AMD's QRV management and PLQ/CQE to ensure timely resolution.
  • Manages OSV technicians who working in customer sites for the operational excellence and data accuracy.
  • Write and deliver OSV deployment presentations to communicate OSV deployment status (plan vs actual) and deliver solutions for any delay, negative ROI, inaccurate OSV data or other OSV issues.
  • Other jobs assigned by manager

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical engineering with >5 years of related experience in the areas of semiconductor/computer manufacturing, product engineering, quality engineering or PM
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of computer products such as Laptop, Desktop, Server, Automotive and understanding of AMD components
  • Effective presentation and communication skills, good negotiation skill.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as in teams and across business units to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

 

  • Bachelors or Master’s in computer engineering or computer science or electrical engineering, or comparable disciplines
