Yield Engineer

 

THE ROLE:

The enterprise/server product development engineering (PDG) team is looking for a Yield engineer, supporting server CPU products with the goal to reduce cost of manufacturing, while achieving committed time to market in a predictable and consistent fashion. The Yield Engineer is encouraged to generate summaries for product package-level yield data and driving improvements in Final Test, System Level Test and production burn-in yield for complex product architectures. which will be used to drive decision making for AMD’s product margins.

 

THE PERSON:

Proficiency in coding/scripting along with strong data analysis skills are essential to be successful in this role. Time will also be spent solving problems product yield signals to drive continuous yield improvement. Technical leadership and innovation are required. Join Us!

 

KEY RESONSIBILITIES:

  • Yield analysis of CPU Microprocessor products.
  • Evaluate silicon, package, process interactions on product level yield.
  • Yield improvement on new and mature technologies.
  • Rive yield improvements in Final Test, System Level Test and production burn-in yield limitors.
  • End-to-end data analysis and correlation of WAT, WS and in-line process monitoring.
  • Data extraction, summarization, prediction, correlation and regression analysis.
  • Reporting yield results and identifying failure mechanisms and corrective actions.
  • Ensuring that correct product testing is performed on AMD products for optimal yield, performance, and quality.
  • Driving solutions to fix identified problems.
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Representing the Yield Team at technical forums and drive company-wide initiatives.
  • The Experienced Yield Engineer is expected to find effective solutions to complex problems and drive continuous yield improvement. Troubleshooting and problem solving are the fundamental role of the Yield Engineer. Technical leadership and innovation are required.
  • Yield debug/characterization for product engineering.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with data extraction, manipulation and storage
  • Statistical tools such as correlation, predictive modeling, contrast analysis, sample testing etc.
  • Experience in applied Solid State Physics, Computer Architecture, Digital or Analog Design.
  • General understanding of device test flows and CMOS fabrication process (front-end, lithography, metrology, back-end), packaging and test processes.
  • Experience w/ high level programming and scripting languages.
  • General navigation and file management skills in Windows and UNIX
  • Strong Proficiency in Excel, JMP, Yield Explorer, SAS, Spotfire or other EDA packages.
  • Proficient understanding of Design of Experiments and their analysis.
  • Maintain excellent communication with different program stakeholders (Product Managers, Test Managers, Manufacturing facilities, Supply Chain).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Wafer and FT/SLT test methodology and equipment knowledge
  • Understanding of DFT (Design for Test) including ATPG, BIST as well System level test concept, methodology and equipment.
  • Adept at Failure Analysis and Troubleshooting.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science plus 5 years of directly related experience or a Master of Science in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering plus 3 years of directly related experience.
