THE ROLE:

In this senior leadership role, you will be the OD Systems Lead for Data Centre Hardware Graphics Systems Design programs.  The scope of work will be collaborating with external ODM partners to architect, design, and deploy into mass production platform HW and FW solutions into the AI, HPC, and ML market segments.

 

THE PERSON:

The successful candidate will have the passion with proven 15-20 years’ experience in mixed high-tech companies from start-up to large enterprise tech companies to

  • Execute complex analysis and communicate concise summary findings and decisive action recommendations to senior management.

  • Build strong partnerships with internal program stakeholders and external ODM partners.
  • Proactively manage risks, identify any barriers to successful program execution, and escalate and facilitate resolution planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Data Centre HW Systems Design Program Manager is a hands-on and dynamic role which encompasses all areas of Systems Solution Development for AMD's Data Center business unit.
  • The role requires proactive and frequent engagement with cross-functional teams to ensure that engineering teams are enabled for successful planning, design, development and deployment of DC Systems Solutions.
  • You are required to have demonstrated proven capability leading concurrent programs in a metric driven environment and must have capability to deliver:
    • Unification of cross business unit product requirements into a cohesive and achievable engineering delivery plan.
    • Management and alignment of design deliverables into corporate phase gate review process.
    • Coordination of Asia 3rd parties & contract manufacturers to align material supply and prototype deliveries in line with committed schedules and engineering acceptance criteria.
  • Provide feedback to program team on schedule update and resource allocation based on observation from ODM project progress; ensure planned milestones are met in a timely manner.
  • Lead the RFI/RFP/RFQ process to effectively evaluate ODM and third-party suppliers, ensuring alignment with project requirements. 
  • Conduct RFQ/NRE discussions with ODM partners on product development activities; ensure aligned budget is tracked and updated.
  • Work closely with legal teams to draft comprehensive contracts, statements of work, NDAs, and GSAs, facilitating smooth collaboration and legal compliance.
  • Oversee the entire new product development lifecycle, from project initiation (NPI) to production, encompassing product design, specification refinement, software development, version control, bug resolution, change management, schedule adherence, BOM analysis, and resource/cost optimization.
  • Apply continuous process improvements; Advocate design and process changes to internal teams and ODM partner to resolve issues.
  • Lead design reviews with internal and external ODM partners. Provide direction and guidance to process improvement.
  • Apply effective process structure to deliver first level issue review/debug reporting; collaborate with internal cross functional teams for issue resolution.
  • Coordinate diverse cross-functional teams but not limited to design engineering (software, hardware, mechanical, thermal design), validation (Reliability/Regression), quality assurance, customer support, manufacturing, and procurement—to maintain project timelines and deliverables.
  • Engage in effective communication and negotiation with international counterparts to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment across related teams.
  • Foster open communication and cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote project success and stakeholder satisfaction.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience within AI/HPC Systems level design deployment.
  • Knowledge of the graphics market and related industries.
  • Proven experience in rapid data centre systems hardware product prototyping and high mix, fast turn, product development from design to mass production.
  • Experience in interacting with and directing international teams in a technology environment.
  • Ability to travel in both North America and Asia (up to 25%).

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • 15-20 years of experience in technology product delivery (preferably Data Centre Systems segment based)
  • 7+ years as a Program Manager in a technology environment
  • Engineering Degree
  • Additional education, certification or specialized learning related to above business segments would be advantageous
