THE ROLE:  

AMD is looking for a senior software engineer to join our growing tools team. As a key contributor you will drive and enhance tooling capabilities for debugging and performance improvements on AMD platforms. Your contributions will enable developers across gaming, graphics, and AI/ML industries to get the highest quality and performance from AMD’s industry-leading technologies. 

  

THE PERSON:  

The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for software engineering development, and is diligent and passionate about technology. A successful candidate will need to employ strong knowledge of computer graphics technologies, leadership skills in technical areas, and SW engineering expertise. The ability to understand and contribute to components of large software systems in an agile development environment is essential. They should be able to work independently and have effective communication skills to work across multiple time zones and feel comfortable interacting with external customers and partners.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Develop and drive execution of software features for the latest generation of AMD products 
  • Take ownership of product development from inception to final customer delivery 
  • Contribute to a mature product team and well-established codebase 
  • Collaborate closely with other teams to plan, deliver, and support future hardware and software architectures 
  • Work closely with development teams and Project Managers to drive results 

  

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

  • Strong C/C++ and object-oriented experience in Windows and Linux environments 
  • Experience with Python scripting 
  • Understanding of graphics APIs such as DX12 or Vulkan 
  • Understanding of machine learning (ML) technologies will be helpful but not required 
  • Experience with debugging and performance tools such as Microsoft PIX, RenderDoc, or AMD’s Radeon Developer Tool Suite 
  • Solid understanding of Software Engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, Operating Systems concepts, and multithreaded programming  
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills  

  

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
