THE ROLE: 

The ChipScope team has an exciting opportunity for a creative and talented software development engineer. We are a collaborative team that enjoys learning from each other as we create tools for AMD-Xilinx devices. Our passion is developing creative, robust tools that help our customers find and solve their toughest Adaptive SoC and FPGA design issues. Our team collectively works with our support and operations teams to develop one of the most widely used suite of software and hardware debug tools for AMD-Xilinx devices. 

THE PERSON: 

In this senior member of technical staff position, you will be working with other developers, team leads, and managers to help explore, develop, build, test, and support existing and new products. Utilizing your creativity and software design engineering skills, you will help expand, optimize, and maintain the ChipScope team’s debug products and solutions. You will also lead investigations into new technologies that will benefit the overall solution quality and development productivity of the ChipScope team. By making use of open-source software packages, you will help expand features for our debug tools, including expanding the capabilities of the ChipScoPy API. Lastly, you will have the opportunity to interact with diverse teams, from silicon to software teams to board manufacturing teams. Every day you will have opportunities to learn something new about advanced AMD-Xilinx products and what it takes to develop quality production tools. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Research, architect and develop cutting edge debug solutions used by our Adaptive SoC and FPGA customers
  • Collaborate with other developers and architects from a diverse set of software and hardware teams to design optimal debug solutions
  • Develop prototypes and proof of concept designs for solution proposals running on Adaptive SoC or FPGA hardware
  • Proactively identify and deliver solutions that reduce development and support costs
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain existing system integration infrastructure used by the related debug products
  • Investigate and support open-source software packages used by debug products and infrastructure
  • Attend and participate in project team meetings to develop and implement project plans
  • Collaborate with the project team members to troubleshoot and solve product issues
  • Document and present testing results and training modules 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded software development
  • Hands-on and demonstrable coding experience using Python programming language
  • Strong software / hardware / system-level integration and troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience with embedded and FPGA development tools, including in-system debug
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including ability to write clear and concise technical design documents and record audio/video
  • Ability to work in a global team in a diverse/multiple stakeholder environment

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience with Gigabit Transceivers as well as PCIe and Ethernet interfaces is highly desired
  • Experience using and creating Docker environments
  • Experience using and contributing to GitHub repositories
  • Comfortable with remote work using both Linux and Windows environments
  • Experience with embedded Linux Kernel development, customization and debugging
  • Familiarity with EDA and on-chip test & measurement tools
  • Experience using hardware devices and related software (such as Xilinx FPGA/Adaptive SoC/SoC)

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor’s, Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
