Sr. Systems Administrator
ABOUT US: AMD mission is to deliver an Adaptable Intelligent world. Our technology enables our customers to accelerate their applications dramatically, often improving performance by orders of magnitude from traditional approaches.
AMD IT provides a globally available and scalable infrastructure for engineering and business workloads. The IT Platforms Engineering team is responsible for managing a global HPC and Accelerated computing infrastructure. We enable cloud like experience for our teams to consume HPC, enterprise data and elastic cloud for creating breakthrough FPGA/Converged silicon.

WORK RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide assistance to user community by answering questions, troubleshooting problems and providing informal one-on-one training when needed. Work on helpdesk tickets to meet service level objectives.
- Gain understanding of Global IT policies, processes and procedures in areas like asset management, client security and ensure a high degree of compliance. Be able to advise end users as required. Support the asset management processes to ensure all assets are registered appropriately and monitored
- Install, Maintain and Support the server and storage infrastructure and technologies to meet uptime, availability and performance goals.
- Support distributed computing environment running LSF
- Provide remote assistance to employees on the go and for those who work at home
- Monitor services and respond proactively to fix issues to continuously improve availability and performance.
- Administer data backup of clients and ensure critical data is protected with standard backup implementation or through data replication.
- Maintain datacenter infrastructure as per standard practices. Plan and execute new installs of servers. Plan and execute equipment retirement following due processes.
- Contribute to evolving standard operating procedures with a focus on problem avoidance
- Install and Configure Software, upgrade and do patch maintenance. Ensure software license compliance. Provide hardware support and troubleshooting to isolate problems. Liaise with Vendors to resolve problems.
- Actively participate in team meetings, report on project status, update monthly metrics and report quarterly on IT operations and project activities
- Work on automating tasks that has a potential for reducing a lot of manual repetitive labour.
- Develop and maintain web based solutions to address reporting and analytics needs. Enhance solutions to meet evolving requirements and develop solutions to bring in transformative change.
- Align and contribute to at least one technology vertical
Job Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
- Must have 8+ years of experience in Systems Administration supporting Linux
- Must have in-depth knowledge supporting and administering servers and workstations in a large, multi-site, enterprise-wide environment. Global experience preferred
- Must have experience administering NAS storage from Netapp/Dell
- Experience supporting distributed computing environment (LSF/Slurm)
- Virtualization experience with Xen products.
- Knowledge of database systems and experience with MySQL/MSSql
- Must possess Shell/Perl/PHP/Javascript/Python scripting abilities along with process automation experience.
- Must be familiar with problem management, incident management, and change control processes.
- Experience supporting software development engineers and employees on the move or remote employees. Must perform problem resolution in an effective and timely manner in accordance with SLA's and customer expectations.
- Must understand networking protocols and be able to diagnose network related problems at the client/server level.
- Demonstrate Project management, time management and prioritization skills to accommodate business requirements and manage scheduled activities.
- Must work well in a team environment and possess proficient English written and verbal communication skills.
- The ideal candidate must be able to adapt to a wide variety of duties, including end user support, project deadlines and commitments, data center systems management and monitoring, and many other aspects of IT.
