Job Description:

Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis; design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for enhancements and new products; develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based and Internet related tools; develop, debug, bring-up, and tune performance of new graphics hardware running on operating systems, utilizing programming and game development principles; determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design; work in an area of specialization to develop systems-level software, working on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors; under supervision, exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results; utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology; and apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.

 Degree required: 

Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, information technology, or computer engineering (or foreign equivalent).

Amount and type of experience required:

Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate Education and experience accepted:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in computer science, electrical engineering, information technology, or computer engineering and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely-related engineering role.

Skills required:

 With either combination of education and experience, position requires two (2) years of experience and/or skills with: SOC/system architecture; C/C++, TCL, Python, bash scripting, CPU architecture, or Linux/Windows internals; server systems, machine-learning, or software debugging (macOS or Linux/Unix); Git, GNU toolchain, data structures, x86-64 architecture, or open source software development..
