Senior Technical Program Manager - Data Center GPU
THE TEAM:
AMD's Data Center GPU organization is transforming the industry with our AI based Graphic Processors. Our primary objective is to design exceptional products that drive the evolution of computing experiences, serving as the cornerstone for enterprise Data Centers, (AI) Artificial Intelligence, HPC and Embedded systems. THE ROLE:
In this high-profile role, you will be the overall program leader for key engineering initiatives from concept to execution. You will work across all of engineering and business to meet overall initiative and/or product objectives.
External Development Partnership (EDP) Senior (Technical) Program Manager focuses on managing and optimizing relationships with external partners (Vendor, Supplier, ODM, CM, etc.) to ensure that external partners meet AMD's program requirements, maintain high quality standards, delivery on time, and align with the company's goals and operational strategies. This role is also a liaison between the internal functional teams and external partners, ensuring seamless communication, managing risks, meeting need by date deliverables, and driving continuous improvement.
THE PERSON:
As an AMD DCGPU Instinct Program Manager, you will plan and drive key engineering initiatives to meet the product requirements for a successful Instinct GPU platform and system launch. You must have intimate knowledge of technical program management along with an outstanding track record of delivering sophisticated hardware and software programs. You will be responsible for driving program schedules that align with business strategy, ensuring that every phase of the project meets our high standards for quality and performance. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, as you'll guide a global team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver exceptional DCGPU systems and solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Defines, plans and drives projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance that incorporate vendor timelines, deliverables, and key milestones.
- Proven experience and capability with resource negotiations (external and internal).
- Proven experience in high mix, low volume, rapid prototyping environment.
- Scope technical feasibility of proposed advanced solutions by clarifying and analyzing requirements with HW/SW Architects, Technical Leads and 3rd Party Suppliers (Vendor).
- Establish clear KPI and performance metrics to track progress, evaluate vendor processes, qualification plans, and workflows, recommending optimizations to improve turnaround times, quality, and alignment with project goals.
- Track progress across all vendor-led initiatives, proactively managing dependencies, potential roadblocks, and resources needed.
- Collaborate with Legal and Procurement teams to align vendor technical requirements, scope, performance with statement of work (SOW), service license agreement (SLA), general service agreement (GSA) and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Solid years of experience in System Design Engineering program management, people management experience and Seasoned experience in New Product Development or Introduction and Product Lifecycle Management.
- Extensive hardware/software and/or customer engineering experience with exposure to System Design Engineering.
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of the principles of program management and can apply them effectively on small to large size projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to handle all levels of interaction, including executive (CVP) level internal and with external partners.
- Horizontal leadership/Matrix management experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Collaborate in problem solving and mitigating risks with Engineering, Program/Project Management, Business Units and Product Management - both internal and external.
- Strong knowledge of productivity and project tools including Jira, JAMA, Confluence, SharePoint, TEAMs.
- Flexible working schedule to manage global (Asia and North America) program execution team.
- Nice to have knowledge of various DFX, product life cycle, reliability, manufacturing and change management release process.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- Formal Project Management education, PMP certified preferred
- Knowledge of quality control tools a bonus
