AMD-Xilinx is expanding its seasoned R&D SW applications team to build and support the next generation of heterogeneous computing platforms based on the 7nm Versal device family, the industry's first adaptive compute acceleration platform (ACAP), The Staff Product Engineer position is in the Software and Acceleration Products group, located in North America, preferably San Jose (California, USA), Longmont (Colorado, USA) or Toronto (Canada). The successful candidate will focus on Vitis Model Composer, a Xilinx toolbox based on MATLAB and Simulink to model heterogeneous designs including AI Engines and Programmable Logic.  The product engineer will be heavily involved in feature specification, early validation, documentation, design methodologies, tutorials, and train-the-trainer material. The candidate will work in a highly cross-functional R&D environment, interacting with SW engineering teams, internal application teams, and tier-1&2 customers to enable high performance DSP processing, with applications in Wireless, Radar, and Automotive.


Main responsibilities:

  • Drive successful adoption of Xilinx Vitis Model Composer tool flow by working closely with key customers, Xilinx marketing, Engineering and field specialists
  • Drive design methodologies around DSP applications, based on industry's best practice, and existing Xilinx methodologies
  • Triage tools issues, refine flows and methodologies, and work closely with Engineering to develop the best in class software tools with great Ease-of-Use


Common activities:

  • Be the product champion, and actively contribute to ideas to enhance Vitis Model Composer to better meet the needs of our customers. Work closely with internal users such as design teams and expert application engineers in the field
  • Explore new capabilities and features in Vitis Model Composer that will speed up our customers’ pace of development and work with Engineering to productize them
  • Develop Application examples using Vitis Model Composer to demonstrate the workflows, features, and capabilities of the product.
  • Contribute to User Guides, author articles, or create short videos, to demonstrate the capabilities of the tool
  • Develop and deliver training materials on new features and methodologies
  • Work with select tier 1 and 2 customers in introducing and demonstrating Vitis Model Composer along with the entire Vitis/Vivado compilation flow to ensure successful adoption on production designs


Education and Experience Requirements

M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering (or a closely related field of study) with senior years of relevant experience.


Experience Requirements

  • Strong DSP knowledge and experience in Wireless, Radar, or Automotive
  • Hands on experience in implementing DSP algorithm in hardware
  • Knowledge of C and C++
  • Experience using MATLAB and Simulink is a big plus
  • Experiance using FPGA is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills is a must
