STAFF SILICON SUPPORT TEAM ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
The candidate will join a highly visible and influential team of physical interface (PHY) experts concentrated on integration and support of SERDES and memory interfaces across the spectrum of AMD products. The team works across a large swath of AMD teams as well as with IP vendors and AMD customers and is instrumental in the delivery of leading-edge, high-speed interface capabilities.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is self-motivated to work independently as well as collaboratively with technical people across a variety of AMD design and test teams, as well as IP vendor and possibly AMD customer teams, and thinks of himself/herself as a problem solver.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide pre- and post-silicon support for SerDes IP, in particular for PCIe and Ethernet
- Support design process, release of design views and collaterals, and integration of SERDES IP across many AMD products.
- Provide silicon support from bring-up of first silicon, to debug, production test, validation, characterization, and customer support
- Work across AMD teams responsible for silicon verification and validation, test on ATE, Platform, Firmware, and characterization/compliance teams
- Provide expertise and support translating post-silicon learnings into questions/suggestions for the new IP design process for SerDes IP
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proven professional experience in the semiconductor industry doing analog mixed-signal circuit validation, design and/or test, characterization and debug
- High-speed I/O SerDes TX/RX design knowledge, e.g. understanding of CDR, PLL/DLL, driver, receiver, VREG techniques and circuits
- Experience with common interface protocols like PCIe, Ethernet, USB, etc. preferred.
- Experience with advanced FinFET semiconductor technologies at and below 14nm.
- Basic understanding of RTL, logic design, and digital circuits
- Python and/or Perl programming desirable. Should be familiar with UNIX environment
- Laboratory experience, including hands-on use of equipment: BERT, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc. desirable.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills, ability to learn quickly, and pronounced attention to detail.
- Good teamwork and oral and written communications skills
