 THE ROLE:

The strategic sourcing manager will be responsible for managing commercial activities, pricing and supply for semiconductor commodities.  Will be responsible to manage IC’s as commodity as the global lead for the company. Drive supplier development through innovation and collaboration. This role will develop a global procurement strategy; implementing a supplier development program that has an integrated long-term approach on cost, quality, and service. Will be responsible to develop and manage the strategic supplier relationship.

Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for acquiring results. Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Resolve methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel as a team lead, AMD's environment is fast paced, results oriented and built upon a legion of forward-thinking people with a passion for winning technology. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Work with stakeholder to understand and set cost targets for managed categories; Lead competitive bid process & analysis, price negotiation, cost reduction and business awards for the commodity with key suppliers.
2. Manage supplier's performance to contractual requirements which meet AMD short and long term needs. Implement contracts to minimize AMD risk and enable supplier accountability for non performance
3. Lead Supplier Performance Management (SPM) with key suppliers and manage the quarterly scorecard to review service level on cost, technology, quality, service, and flexibility.
4. Develop commodity strategy which fully reflects requirements of the stakeholders. Update on a regular basis to track progress against plan.
5. Understand industry trends through on-going market research and benchmarking
6. Execute all activities associated with Procure-to-Pay such that orders are issued and invoiced in a timely manner
7. Demonstrate efficient and effective use of AMD strategic sourcing and Procure-to-Pay processes. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders on all levels.
8. Leverage and apply solid understanding of contracting and negotiating, risk mitigation, and supplier relationship management to manage suppliers and provide sustainable cost, quality, availability, and technology solutions with adherence to procurement policies.
9. Partner with Finance and Legal to resolve disputes with suppliers’ partners.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• BS/BA degree plus experience in a related technical or business field OR MBA plus experience in a related technical or business field.
• Excellent knowledge of purchasing.
• Good knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM).
• Demonstrated effective advanced computer skills.
• Effective communication & interpersonal skills.
• Effective leadership and project management skills.
• Consistently meets all aspects of Strategic Sourcing Manager role.
• Specific education or experience in SCM preferred.
• Understanding of global/regional markets and cultures.
• NAPM/APICS Certification preferred.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

BS/BA degree or above with experienced in a semiconductor technical or business field.
