Strategic Sourcing, Sr. Manager
The Role:
If you have that special blend of technical prowess combined with analytical, financial, and quantitative skills to drive all aspects of product costs, quality, and delivery … we have an exciting role for you!
As a part of the AMD Data Center GPU team, you will be responsible for tracking the detailed cost breakdown of all Instinct GPU products with a goal of creating a cost improvement plan/roadmap for each of the products. To accomplish your goals, you will partner closely with key stakeholders across technical, finance, operations, and supply chain teams to track the latest view of each cost element, identify opportunities for cost improvements weighing “ease of execution” vs “level of impact”, and then drive measurable cost improvements over & above the cost roadmap. You will actively track actual cost trends against the cost roadmaps and identify/understand the source of deviation and drive an action plan to implement the necessary corrective actions. Over time, you will partner with business unit leaders to drive a holistic view of gross margin improvements across pricing ASP & cost levers.
The Person:
You will think long term, drive multiple initiatives, communicate appropriately and influence key internal stakeholders at all levels. You will be collaborative, but also work with significant autonomy. To be successful in this role, you will be highly analytical; think strategically, exhibit curiosity and a strong desire to learn; have a sense of urgency to meet customer timelines, thrive in a fast-paced environment; and have a high level of customer focus and business judgement.
Key responsibilities:
- Be the business unit lead to track & drive cost improvement initiatives that drive cost efficiencies, reduce risks, and improve margins for AMD Instinct products.
- Establish and drive a centralized cross-functional forum with internal Marketing, Operations, Quality & Finance partners focused on collaborative problem-solving efforts to drive ASP, cost & gross margin improvements.
- Develop mechanisms and metrics to track and ensure accountability to the cost roadmap & commitments.
- Provide regular report outs to executive staff & CEO on progress to meet cost targets.
Required experience:.
- Proven experience driving large-scale cost/process improvements resulting in measurable value to the business.
- Basic understanding of the CPU/GPU development workflow and drivers of product cost.
- Demonstrated analytical, financial and quantitative skills and ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
- Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product, our business, and the competitive landscape.
Preferred behaviors:
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary to accomplish the goals.
- Ability to see ahead comprehensively and devise a strong plan of action, and ensure execution happens on time, every time.
- Ability to get things done and produce conclusive, measurable results within time commitments.
- Collaborative and strong team player.
- Strong influencing skills
Academic Credentials:
- Science or Engineering or Business University degree required.
