The Role: 

Supervise and lead AMD’s Austin lab team to achieve 100% on-time NPI test infrastructure bring up, product test, yield, characterization,  and samples development.

The Person:

  • Possesses strong root cause problem solving skills who will help develop best in class test operations
  • Hands on technical leader who thrives in an active, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced leader who can motivate the internal team and external stakeholders to succeed.
  • Strong communicator and change management agent who can deploy changes, communicate status, and provide effective escalation.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise manufacturing operation include new product bring up operation.
  • As a member of the Engineering Operations shift team, the employee is directly responsible for managing a team of 4 to 10 manufacturing specialists that maintain the flow of production, and provide daily technical, strategic, and tactical direction for the area/shift Team.
  • Organize and manage daily activity of the area(s) by setting priorities for personnel, production schedules, equipment activities, and product flow.
  • Responsible for maintaining best manufacturing practices and regulatory includes test floor 5S improvement, LEAN implementation, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) compliance, Emergency Response Team member (as assigned) and ISO9001 compliance.
  • Own lab equipment availability performance and tool utilization, and escalations on shift.
  • Own execution to all quality expectations including equipment inspection, PM and cal etc.
  • Collaborate and liaise with both on site and remote Product Engineers in engineering evaluation plan, execution and result analysis.
  • Provide clear, concise and timely operation deliverables update/status report with real time information, test result and details.
  • Collaborate with other shift supervisors on shift passdown and handover.
  • Lead projects & achieve goals to shorten operation cycle time and reduce cost
  • Develop training plans and staffing requirements for direct reports of assigned areas
  • Develop and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation of the production functions
  • Actively mentor subordinates with diverse language, cultural and educational background to achieve business goals and personal development.
  • Works compressed schedule.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with demonstrated success in production control, capacity planning, lean manufacturing, six sigma, or project management.
  • Good to have experience in leading technical or manufacturing team. Previous leadership/supervision experience is a plus. 
  • Prefer that candidate has familiarity with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) or System Level Test equipment
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and provide solutions to closure.
  • A history of leading root cause problem solving events (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Proactive and self-driven approach to overcome challenges and achieve results.
  • Must be proficient in Excel and relevant software applications
  • Must have knowledge of human resource management principles and procedures (preferred).

Academic Credentials:

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing or related Engineering field is a plus.
