THE ROLE:

 

We are seeking a technical marketing engineer with expertise in board design using embedded processors and FPGAs to support our marketing initiatives. This position is in the product software and solutions team part of the adaptive and embedded computing group. The candidate will be contributing their technical expertise to the development of our marketing materials, assist with marketing campaigns and launches, and provide sales staff and clients with technical support.

 

THE PERSON:

 

The ideal candidate would:

  • Be an engineer who enjoys solving difficult problems and is passionate about helping AMD customers design the latest industry leading solutions 
  • Be able to work smoothly with a team, collaborate effectively with other global teams, and manage relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Be able to work under time pressure and within project environment constraints
  • Be detailed oriented and meticulous
  • Have good writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills coupled with a strong aptitude to learn and innovate

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist in providing technical support/guidance to FAEs and customers with embedded x86 and FPGA based board design (board schematic reviews and layout guidelines).
  • Participate in product development by working closely with marketing and board engineering on related design documents.
  • Develop and present technical product training material.
  • Work with the sales/technical sales team to help resolve customer technical questions and participate in customer visits/presentations. Occasional international travel may be needed.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of related user guides, application notes, and technical modules.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Experience with the board design process; from product requirements to board bring-up.
  • Solid understanding of signal integrity in high-speed design and mechanical/thermal design considerations in high power designs
  • Excellent knowledge of the following specifications: DDR, PCIe, USB, SATA, SMBUS, I2C, HDMI, DP, LVDS
  • Hands-on experience in designing and debugging HW issues on x86 and FPGA SoC platforms.
  • Experience designing power delivery networks for processors and FPGAs
  • Experience with DDR4/5, LPDDR4/5, QSPI, OSPI, U/R/LR DIMM JEDEC standards, VITA standards, PCIe4/5, 1/2.5/10G/100G Ethernet, LVDS, MIPI.
  • Familiarity with Vivado and Vitis
  • Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...) is an added plus

 

 ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

 

  • A Bachelor or Masters in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related.
