Technical Writer/Project Manager

 

The Role:

The AMD Data Center GPU group has seen tremendous growth over the last year and is looking for a Technical Writer to author and update collateral across the Infinity product line.  The collateral includes data sheets, user guides and reference guides.  The position requires not only a strong technical writer, but someone with excellent interpersonal skills capable of interfacing closely with engineers from various teams. Together, your technical and personal skills will result in excellent collateral which will enhance our users’ experience.

 

Infinity is part of every new AMD product being developed across Client, Server, Graphics, and Semi-Custom markets.

 

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have experience collaborating with architects and engineers to create and maintain collateral for consumption by both internal and external customers.  Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to work independently and within a team.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit technical documents to support internal and external customers.
  • Confer with technical personnel to ensure content accuracy and to resolve questions or contradictions.
  • Facilitate conversations and research when existing content does not meet customer needs.
  • Work with subject-matter experts from cross-functional-teams to obtain and develop technical content.
  • Usher through review and publication cycles.
  • Manage dependencies, content and quality against schedule and stakeholder expectations.
  • Deliver documents on schedule determined by document owners and program management.
  • Identify new technical content opportunities to transform and support the user experience.
  • Will need to author and record video training materials
  • Need to become familiar with software tools to better understand and support the technical docs

 

Preferred Experience:

  • At least 8 years of experience in technical content management or technical writing. 
  • Strong knowledge of DITA and experience with component content management systems (CCMSs).
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Visio, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience with Visio, Jira, Twiki, Confluence, GitHub, and HTML documentation
  • Demonstrable understanding of structured authoring, content reuse. 
  • Proven experience with excellent writing skills in English language, editing, organizational skills, and strong attention to details.
  • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
  • Experience writing engineering-level documentation for computer hardware and software.
  • Create visuals and diagrams to enhance documentation.
  • Proven interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Highly motivated to seek out solutions and willing to learn new skills to fulfill job requirements.
  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking.
