THE ROLE:

AMD’s Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group (AECG) has an opportunity for a Staff Technical Writer who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

 

THE PERSON:

The candidate should be a dynamic, innovative individual who has demonstrated success in both project management and technical content creation.

 

The successful candidate for this position has a track record of strength and aptitude relevant to the following areas: 

  • Create clear, effective, user-focused technical documentation for highly technical audiences. 
  • Manage multiple projects through shifting priorities and deadlines. 
  • Effectively plan and track projects, and capably report project status and issues both up and down in the organization. 
  • Demonstrate timely decision making and problem solving. 
  • Understand and promote usability and product goals. 
  • Adhere to established technical writing standards. 
  • Promote cross-team collaboration and engagement among global subject matter experts, marketing, and technical support staff. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Working with subject matter experts to create user documentation for AMD products.
  • Review and manage content for completeness, accuracy, appropriate language and structure, visual design, and usability.
  • Ensure that content is mechanically correct and stylistically consistent.
  • Managing project deliverables and schedules, including risk management and reporting on project status.
  • Working collaboratively with others in the documentation team to build and maintain standards and processes.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience writing technical documentation, including supporting a major product, product suite, or technology. 
  • Experience managing multiple projects using collaborative platforms (e.g., Confluence, Jira). 
  • Experience with structured authoring/DITA; experience with MapCap IXIA CCMS is beneficial. 
  • Experience with technical reference documentation is a plus. 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BA in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, a related field, or equivalent experience.
