This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based in Rockstar’s state-of-the-art game development studio in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Rockstar North is on the lookout for talented Associate QA Testers who are passionate, enthusiastic, and self-motivated, to join our internal Build Verification QA team.
WHAT WE DO
- Working at the forefront of bleeding-edge builds, we support development by ensuring the quality and timely release of internal game builds. We flag critical issues to the correct stakeholders, and follow-up appropriately throughout the build lifecycle.
- We action comprehensive and time-sensitive test plans to verify game content and systems function as expected.
- Writing prompt and concise bug reports, we clearly communicate any issues found and provide all relevant supporting information.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Testing core game content and systems in a timely manner.
- Identifying and chasing-up bugs critical to the release of any given build.
- Writing accurate bug reports, triaging serious issues and reporting directly to other departments as necessary.
- Handling developing situations and responding promptly to new information, ensuring bug reports stay accurate and correct throughout the build cycle.
- Working efficiently and collaboratively to deliver complete test reports as quickly as possible.
- Handing work over to, and receiving work from, other global test teams to ensure seamless coverage.
- Responding to ad-hoc or time-sensitive test requests alongside regular duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- An interest in and understanding of the technical aspects of video game development.
- Good general PC knowledge, including experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Good standard of written English.
- Competent gaming ability and a strong understanding of Rockstar titles, both singleplayer and multiplayer.
- Previous industry experience in a QA or related role.

- Ability to work productively, collaboratively, and communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to multitask, prioritise, and work within strict time constraints.
- The ability to concisely communicate complex and nuanced information both in-person and through written reports.
- The ability to express thoughts and opinions openly and constructively.
- Knowledge of current generation games consoles and PCs.
- Ability to become quickly accustomed to various in-house software systems.
- The ability to remain focused when approaching repetitive tasks.
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
- Familiarity with code editors or IDEs (eg. Visual Studio, VSCode), reading code, interpreting call stacks, etc. is helpful but not required.
- Existing experience with database software (Jira, Mantis, Test Track, etc.).
- Degree level educated.
