The Challenge Ahead
We are DRE (Development & Release Engineering) - a central EA team at the intersection of DevOps, Release Management and Build Engineering. We build, manage and maintain the build pipelines for the majority of EA’s studios worldwide. We are looking for an Associate Technical director for our DRE Cobra team that is based in Europe who can be both hands-on and a people manager for approximately 5 engineers
In your role as an Associate Technical Director, you will help us grow and develop a strong team, setting and driving the execution of technical roadmap with direction from the leadership team You are a experienced software developer with experience in modern software development practices, and have experience working with game build pipelines before. Ideally, you are familiar with diverse DevOps practices such as continuous integration, infrastructure as a code and cloud technologies.
Reporting to a Technical Director, this means building thoughtful engineering teams, partnering with the teams and responsibilities that your teams will support our customers (the game teams) to ensure we can provide services that build the game software and find the fun faster.
Requirements
- Experience leading agile engineering teams while still being hands on
- People management experience (either formal or informal)
- Strong coding skills.
- Worked on a game team, ideally as a tools or build engineer
- Familiarity with CI Systems such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar
- Familiarity with container/VM technologies (Docker, vSphere, and Kubernetes)
- Analytical and methodical problem solving skills
Would be a bonus
- Monitoring tools like Grafana, Kibana, DataDog
- Experience with As-Code management tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Packer)
- Familiarity with Document Databases (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB)
- Experience with Package repositories (e.g. Artifactory).
