As a Lighting Artist, you will work within our multi-discipline art team to light the game world as well as create mood and atmosphere that is in keeping with the Art direction of the game. You will be expected to master the engine and tools in order to maintain a consistently high quality level while ensuring artistic and technical constraints are respected.  

What you'll do

  • Work with the Artistic Director and Art Leads to develop the visual style and validate the quality of the lighting.
  • Define workflows and create visual benchmarks.
  • Get familiar with the visual references so as to respect the artistic direction of the project and be able to make suggestions regarding atmosphere and lighting.
  • Design lighting systems that will support both visual style and gameplay.
  • Verify the quality of the lighting in game and make any necessary changes.
  • Correct the lighting bugs entered by testers to eliminate anomalies.
  • Maintain a consistently high quality level while ensuring artistic and technical constraints are respected.
  • Provide feedback on developing lighting pipelines and tools.
  • Track and report progress regularly.

What you have

  • Experience lighting for games, film, or TV.
  • Strong understanding of art fundamentals and design including composition and colour theory.
  • Solid technical knowledge of how to create run time lighting in game engines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm to collaborate successfully with different teams and studios.
  • Good communication skills and ability to accept critique and adapt to change.
  • High level of creativity, autonomy, and initiative.
  • Detail-oriented.
