AMD together we advance_

THE ROLE:

At AMD, we are seeking a talented and motivated engineer to fill a pivotal role. Responsibilities include enhancing AFX and AFX-Farm performance, continuously improving AFX, facilitating the integration of HPC tests with AFX, and providing support to users. AFX is a desktop functional tester developed internally, serving as a debug and diagnostic tool relied upon daily by AMD AECG teams. Additionally, AMD HPC teams are integrating AFX into their workflow for debugging and diagnostic purposes.

THE PERSON:

The successful applicant will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Si design, Si verification, and system-level testing to develop and maintain AFX hardware, ensuring timely support for test and debug activities during new product introductions. Key qualifications include:

  • Strong fundamentals in board design and expertise in high-speed board design.
  • Proven track record of effectively collaborating with others to define requirements and establish goals.
  • Hands-on laboratory expertise in signal and power analysis and debugging.
  • Ability to effectively implement new technologies.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Improve the performance of current generation AFX system.
  • Participate in the development of next generation AFX from concept to production.
  • Define hardware design requirements and specifications based on project objectives and internal customer needs.
  • Lead board design through all development stages: from spec definition, through electrical schematics to implementation, bring-up, qualification and finally release of the system to the internal customers.
  • Collaborate and integrate all HW project fields: Board Design, Mechanics, Thermal, PCB Layout, Production, Software/Firmware, RTL and more.
  • Collaborate with Production/Operation teams to define big quantity production systems.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and team playing skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in advanced PCB board design, including both analog and digital features.
  • Logic RTL capabilities.
  • Preferred experience with scripting using Python.
  • Hands-on with debug, triage, and validation procedures for all the interfaces and subsystems of a platform.
  • Experience in EMI/EMC, SI/PI, PCB stack-up, Crosstalk mitigation, Effective noise mitigation techniques.
