THE ROLE:

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, responsible for US & International indirect taxes, to join our Tax team. The Sr. Manager will be primarily responsible for US indirect tax compliance, the management of US indirect tax audits and will oversee International indirect tax matters. In addition, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in:

  • providing recommendations and solutions to mitigate risk associated with regulatory changes, supply chain alterations and business expansion,
  • identifying opportunities for automation within AMD’s indirect tax ecosystem; and
  • process improvement initiatives

 

THE PERSON:

 

The successful candidate is someone with an in-depth knowledge of US and International indirect taxes. This role will appeal to a candidate who is a self-starter with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment, and who thinks critically to identify, assess and resolve intricate tax issues. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to clearly understand the needs of the business, explain complex tax concepts to business partners and advise on solutions which meet business needs while mitigating tax risk.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage the US and International indirect tax compliance process for AMD
  • Oversee indirect tax audits and inquiries, including correspondence with taxing jurisdictions and internal business partners
  • Engage with key stakeholders to understand and assess the impact of the business strategy on AMD’s indirect tax obligations
  • Provide indirect tax advice to key stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk, support strategic decision making and improve cost efficiency
  • Be a key participant within the global AMD Finance team in identifying, analyzing and implementing indirect tax solutions
  • Monitor and assess the impact of regulatory changes on AMD’s business
  • Collaborate with indirect tax colleagues to ensure cohesive and streamlined tax processes and strategy across the indirect tax function
  • Develop and implement indirect tax training materials to encourage continuous process improvement
  • Monitor emerging technologies and its potential application in streamlining the indirect tax compliance process

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven number of years of indirect tax experience in Big 4 or within the tax function of an MNC. Technology sector experience preferred
  • Good technical knowledge and demonstrated hands on experience with indirect tax issues of large multinational high-tech companies
  • Clear aptitude to prioritize tasks, execute with accuracy and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrates a clear capacity to listen to stakeholders and make recommendations which mitigate indirect tax risks while meeting the needs of the business
  • Ability to work on a flexible work schedule as required to liaise with foreign colleagues in different time zones

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Degree in tax, accounting, business or finance
  • CPA or equivalent
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc.)
